- Soak toor dal, moong dal, chana dal, and rice in water for 2 hours.
- Drain and use some of the drained water to grind the dals and rice into a smooth paste with asafoetida, salt, and dried red chillies.
- Fill idli plates with the batter and steam for 15 minutes. Let them cool completely before removing and dicing into small pieces.
- Heat peanut oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and urad dal, letting them splutter.
- Add chopped ginger, curry leaves, green chillies, and onions. Sauté until the onions soften.
- Add the diced lentil idlis and toss well with salt.
- Mix in fresh shredded coconut and coat the pieces evenly.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.

- Ensure the lentil idlis are completely cooled before dicing to maintain their structure.
- Adjust the spiciness to taste by varying the quantity of green chillies.
