Instructions

  • Thoroughly wash the cotton seeds multiple times to remove any impurities. Soak them in water overnight.
  • Wash and soak the raw rice in water overnight as well.
  • Drain the water from both the cotton seeds and rice. Blend them together with some water until you achieve a smooth paste consistency.
  • Strain this mixture to obtain a milky liquid.
  • Pour the milky liquid into a saucepan and cook over medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring continuously. The mixture will begin to thicken.
  • Incorporate the jaggery into the thickened milk, mixing well until it dissolves. Continue cooking for an additional 4 minutes.
  • Stir in the cardamom and dry ginger powder for flavor.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and blend in the coconut milk.
  • Serve the Paruthi Paal warm, allowing the comforting flavors to soothe and nourish.

Notes

  1. Ensure the cotton seeds are washed well to remove any dirt or impurities.
  1. Soaking the seeds and rice overnight facilitates easier grinding.
  1. Although jaggery is the traditional sweetener for this recipe, it can be substituted with karupatti (palm jaggery) or regular sugar. However, jaggery is preferred for its health benefits.
