- In a large mixing bowl, combine besan, rice flour, cumin, turmeric, crushed black pepper, asafoetida, butter, and salt.
- Add ¼ cup water (or as required) to form a smooth, slightly sticky dough.
- Grease a mould with large holes and stuff the dough into it.
- Heat oil for deep frying.
- Press the dough into hot oil in circular shapes, ensuring they don't overlap.
- Fry for a minute, then flip and fry the other side until golden and crisp.
- Drain the fried karasev on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.
- Repeat with the remaining dough.
